Charges laid in shooting

London police say charges have been laid in connection with a shooting that they say was not a random incident.

On April 22, police launched an investigation after a 20-year-old man showed up at hospital with a gunshot wound. His injuries were considered serious, but not life-threatening.

Investigators learned that the man had been shot in an apartment on Dundas Street near Lyle Street. The day after the shooting, officers raided a home on Dundas Street and seized cocaine, suspected fentanyl, morphine, methylphenidate pills, hydromorphone pills, and four scales.

Two people have been taken into custody. Shawn Ian Boocock, 38, of London is charged with careless use of a firearm, criminal negligence causing bodily harm, and unauthorized use of a firearm.

Ingrid Herta Sharon Cuffe, 29, of London is charged with being an accessory after the fact to criminal negligence causing bodily harm.

Both suspects also face drug charges.

Police say the firearm has been recovered.

Anyone with information in relation to this incident is asked to call the London Police Service at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Information can also be sent in online anonymously to London Elgin Middlesex Crime Stoppers.
