London-Middlesex records 104 new COVID-19 cases

The Middlesex London Health Unit reported 104 new cases of COVID-19 in the region on Saturday.

The total case count in London-Middlesex is now at 10,487. There are 956 known active cases, up from 944 the previous day, and a total of 9,331 resolved cases.

There were no new deaths reported on Saturday, with the death toll remaining at 200. London-Middlesex recorded its 200th COVID-19 death on Friday.

There are no outbreaks at any local long-term care or retirement homes.

Outbreaks continue at Angels Daycares Komoka, London Bridge Rowntree Park Early Childhood Learning Centre and Miss B's Childcare. There are also outbreaks at three area schools – Providence Reformed Collegiate, St, Andre Bessette Secondary School and St Francis School.

Meanwhile, a pair of outbreaks have been declared over at Western University residences, one at London Hall and one at Saugeen-Maitland Hall. Outbreaks remain at three local university residences.

Across Ontario, the province recorded 3,369 new cases on Saturday. According to Health Minister Christine Elliot, there were 1,050 new cases in Toronto, 819 in Peel and 286  in York Region.

The total number of cases in Ontario is now at 466,733 with 421,216 recoveries. As of Saturday, 8,079 people in the province has passed away from the virus and 2,152 are currently hospitalized.
