Loaded handgun seized by police

In the latest incident involving a firearm in London, police have seized a loaded handgun.

According to the London Police Service, members of its recently created Crime Gun Task Force and members of its Emergency Response Unit stopped a vehicle on Deveron Crescent near Commissioners Road East on Thursday as part of an ongoing investigation.

The driver and passenger were taken into custody and police seized a loaded 9mm handgun.

A 28-year-old man and a 27-year-old man, both of London, are each charged with possession of a prohibited weapon with no authority, occupying a vehicle with a firearm, possession of a loaded unregulated firearm, possession of a restricted firearm without a licence, unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, and careless storage of a firearm.

The 28-year-old is also charged with possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order.
