Stolen vehicle hits cruiser, suspect charged

A London man faces charges after a stolen vehicle collided with a police cruiser.

According to the London Police Service, an officer saw a stolen vehicle in the area of Rectory Street and Stedwell Street around 11:10 a.m. Tuesday. The officer tried to pull the vehicle over near Chesley Avenue and Hamilton Road, but the driver sped up and made contact with the police cruiser. Police claim there was significant damage done to the cruiser.

The driver got out of the vehicle and ran, but was arrested by police. He was searched, and police seized suspected Fentanyl and crack cocaine.

A 40-year-old man is charged with dangerous driving, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and possession of a Schedule 1 substance.
