COVID-19 cases reported in six Thames Valley schools

The Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB) reported half a dozen new COVID-19 cases on Thursday.

Cornerstone 1 alternative education, Northbrae, Princess Anne french immersion, Sir Frederick Banting secondary, and Sir John A. Macdonald in London along with Northbrae in St. Thomas all identified new cases.

While students haven't been in class for nearly a week during the spring break, the school board is still tracking positive cases daily and informing those who may have been in contact of the affected.

"If you do not receive a letter from Thames Valley indicating the public health unit has identified your child as a close contact, your child is not considered to be at risk," the TVDSB said in a statement.

In an effort to prevent the risk of further spread, students across Ontario will start learning from home after the weekend likely for the remainder of the school year.

The Thames Valley spent most of the break re-structuring the curriculum for staff and students to make the transition to remote learning on Monday as smooth as possible.
