Teen seriously hurt in shooting on Walker Street

A 17-year-old boy is in hospital with serious injuries after a shooting on Tuesday night in east London.

According to London police, a 911 call about a possible shooting on Walker Street, a dead-end road east of Adelaide Street, came in around 11:40 p.m. When officers arrived, they found a 17-year-old suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Other evidence a gun had been fired was found at the scene, police said.

The shooting Tuesday night is believed to be connected to a similar incident in which shots were fired in the area of Walker and Rectory streets on March 2. The shots rang out around 4:40 a.m. and hit the window of a home. No injuries were reported in relation to that incident.

The investigation into the shooting is in its early stages, police said. They are asking anyone with information to call them at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
