Five London area schools report COVID-19 cases

The Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB) reported five new COVID-19 cases at local schools.

In a release issued by the school board late Friday evening, Clarke Road secondary, Cornerstone alternative education, Princess Anne French Immersion, and Oliver Stephens in Woodstock  all recorded infections linked to the schools.

Ashley Oaks, which closed due to an outbreak on Thursday, also recorded an additional case.

Close contacts of the affected individuals will be contacted by the school board and advised to stay home and quarantine for 14 days. The Thames Valley says Southwestern Public Health and the Middlesex London Health Unit continue to investigate the cases and will follow up with those as necessary.

There are currently 43 active cases within TVDSB schools.

Schools across Ontario begin April Break this weekend with classes set to resume April 19.
