Three London pharmacies to offer Astra-Zeneca vaccine

More pharmacies in Ontario will soon be offering COVID-19 vaccines, including several in London and the surrounding area.

The Province of Ontario announced Thursday that it is expanding vaccine availability to 380 pharmacies in Ontario. Residents 55 and older will be able to get the Astra-Zeneca vaccine at these pharmacies.

The expansion builds on a pilot project in Windsor, Toronto, and Kingston that began in March and offered the Astra-Zeneca shot to anyone 60-years-old or older.

Eight pharmacies in the London-area will start offering the vaccine. They are:

Costco pharmacy - 693 Wonderland Rd N, London Shoppers Drug Mart - 603 Fanshawe Park Rd, London Stoney Creek Pharmacy - 770 South Wenige Rd, London Shoppers Drug Mart - 959 Dundas St, Woodstock Shoppers Drug Mart - 107 Edward St, St. Thomas Yurek Pharmacy - 519 Talbot St, St. Thomas Pharmasave - 1-19 King, Ingersoll Remedy's RX - 273 King St, Ingersoll

"Thanks to the hard work of our dedicated frontline health care providers, Ontario's vaccine rollout in primary care settings and pharmacy settings has been a success," said Health Minister Christine Elliot. "With more locations coming on board, these settings will make receiving the COVID-19 vaccine easier and more convenient for eligible populations across the province. I encourage everyone to sign up when it's their turn. Until we receive enough vaccines so that the majority of Ontarians can be vaccinated it remains critical for everyone to continue following public health measures we know work and keep us safe."

According to the province, some of the pharmacies that will now be offering the Astra-Zeneca vaccine will start doing so as early as Saturday.
