London man charged for following woman around

A 32-year-old man has been charged with harassment after a woman said she was followed by a man in a car twice in one week while on the Western University campus.

Last Monday at around 3:10 pm., a 23-year-old woman told police she was walking on University Drive when she noticed a dark grey Dodge Charger driving slowly behind her. The woman alleges the male driver was watching her, and fearing for her safety, began to hide behind a nearby building. The car pulled into a laneway, waited, and then left.

Then on March 25, the woman was crossing the street in the area of University Drive and Richmond Street when she saw the same car and driver stopped at the red light beside her, police said.

When the light turned green, the vehicle did not move, and the woman says she saw the driver was looking at her. She proceeded to an area where other people were and the car started moving slowly.

Following the second incident, the victim contacted London police, and video footage of the interactions was obtained by officers.

As a result of the investigation, a London man has been charged with criminal harassment by repeated following and criminal harassment by watching and besetting.

The accused appeared in court on Sunday to respond to the charges.
