Three charged after crash leads to drug seizure

Three London men have been charged following a dramatic crash near the city's Old East Village Wednesday evening.

At around 9:10 p.m, emergency crews responded to the intersection of Quebec Street and Mornington Avenue following a report of a car hitting a hydro pole.

Officers arrived and found the vehicle resting against the pole. According to police, drugs and related paraphernalia were found inside the car.

The driver and two passengers were transported to hospital with unknown injuries. No one else was hurt during the incident.

During a search of the car, police seized 41 grams of cocaine valued at $4,400, 11.7 grams of marijuana, numerous prescription medications, brass knuckles, two digital scales, two cell phones, and $1,106 in cash.

Three men, aged 19, 21 and 22, are each charged with possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking.

The 19-year-old driver of the vehicle faces additional charges of impaired operation of a vehicle, failure to comply with a demand made by a peace officer, failure to comply with a prohibition order, and possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon or device. The 21-year-old was also charged with breach of probation.

All three accused have upcoming court dates.
