Emergency crews kept busy with multiple crashes across city

London police, EMS and fire were kept occupied responding to over half a dozen crashes across the city Thursday afternoon.

Shortly after 1 p.m. crews were called to a three-vehicle crash on Adelaide Street North near Grosvenor Street. Traffic was briefly snarled while workers cleared the scene and one person was taken to hospital with unknown injuries.

A two-vehicle crash on Wellington Road South at Southdale Road East was reported right around 1:30 p.m. London fire tweeted the area had been cleared nearly one hour later.

Just before 3 p.m., emergency crews responded to a vehicle rollover crash on Oxford Street West at Woodhull Road. Police temporarily closed the area to traffic between Woodhull and Gideon Drive while firefighters helped extricate an individual from SUV. Officials later confirmed three people were taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

At the same time, first responders were notified of two other crashes. One at the intersection of Commissioners Road and Wonderland Road South and another on northbound Veterans Memorial Parkway at Hamilton Road.

As of 4 p.m. Thursday, crews have cleared the area on Veterans Memorial Parkway, and OPP arrived to take over the investigation. No injuries were reported in either incident, though paramedics were on scene to assist.

A four-vehicle crash was reported on Oxford Street East at Gammage Street at around 3:30 p.m. Westbound traffic was briefly blocked while eastbound travellers were down to one lane. No other details on injuries have been made, but London fire reported they had the scene cleared at around 4:40 p.m. St. Thomas police officers who were in the area doing training, also assisted.

At 4:08 p.m., London police were called to Adelaide Street North again, this time at Ross Street between Grosvenor Street and Cheapside Street. Additional details on the crash have not been made available.

Emergency personnel responded to an eighth crash at Gainsborough Road and Limberlost Road at around 6 p.m. Officials say just one vehicle was involved after it hit a streetlight pole.  No one was injured and the area was cleared approximately 30 minutes later.
