Man charged after replica handgun, drugs seized at White Oaks Mall

London police say a 39-year-old man faces charges after he allegedly brought a replica gun into White Oaks Mall Friday afternoon.

Mall security told officers they initially observed a man walking around with a large knife in his pants pocket. He was asked to leave the knife in his car before he could return to the mall. During the interaction, a firearm was then seen in the man's waistband.

The suspect proceeded to flee the mall and headed northbound towards Bradley Avenue when police were called.

No one was injured and officers arrested the man a short time later.

During a search, police seized a replica handgun and knife, as well as brass knuckles, and multiple baggies containing suspected cocaine and fentanyl.

The accused faces multiple charges including two counts of carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a probation order and three counts of possession of a schedule I substance for trafficking.

He is scheduled to appear in court on June 4.
