Ontario Police College extends class suspension

A COVID-19 outbreak at the Ontario Police College in Aylmer has now affected 112 people.

On Friday evening, Brent Ross a spokesperson with the Ministry of the Solicitor General said 104 of the cases have been resolved.

"In consultation with the local public health unit and to help prevent the potential for further spread, all in-person instruction at the college is paused," Ross said in a statement.

The facility states that throughout the pandemic, safety measures have been implemented including mandatory screening and on-site testing.

Southwestern Public Health reported the first case linked to the college on February 22. Approximately 700 recruits, instructors and staff were then ordered to undergo testing and classes were suspended for 14 days.

Aside from the police college, Elgin and Oxford counties has on-going outbreaks at three local retirement homes.
