OPP near Lucan searching for police impersonator

Middlesex OPP are searching for a suspect after someone impersonated a police officer and pulled over a snow plow driver outside Lucan.

Police say they received a complaint from a plow operator who had been stopped at the intersection of Highway 7 and Clarke Road in Middlesex Centre around the noon hour Sunday.

The suspect is described as a white male with a thin build, in his late 20s or early 30s. He had blonde hair, a goatee, and sleeve tattoos to the wrists in dark ink. He was wearing a dark t-shirt with "POLICE" in yellow lettering on the chest and three chevrons (V-shaped marks) on each shoulder.

The suspect's vehicle is described as a dark-coloured SUV with red and blue flashing lights on the front grill and windshield. The vehicle did not have a front push bar, nor did it have any police service markings.

Anyone with information is asked to contact OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

Middlesex OPP remind the public that citizens may ask a police officer to provide the name of their service, detachment, badge number, rank officer's badge, and warrant card. Police say the officer should be able to provide this information without delay.
