Winter training brings military personnel to Middlesex Centre

People north of London are being told not to be alarmed if they spot military personnel patrolling the area.

The Canadian Armed Forces is conducting winter training exercises in Middlesex Centre and Exeter this weekend. Army reservists will be practicing land navigation, construction of snow defences, and cold weather survival skills. All of the exercises will take place around residential areas and farm land between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.

All of the activities are being conducted with the co-operation of local authorities in officially approved locations. Certain areas will be off limits to the public while the training is underway.

Any weapons used during the training exercises will be unloaded and no live ammunition will be fired, the Canadian Armed Forces said.

The public is asked to use caution when approaching military vehicles being used in the training.
