COVID-19 outbreak declared at second Thames Valley school

Another school in the Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB) has been placed in outbreak status.

Late Friday evening, the board announced a second case of the virus at Caradoc North Public School in Strathroy. The school reported its first positive case on February 8.

The case marks the second school outbreak in the London area since in-class learning resumed earlier this month. On Wednesday, the Middlesex London Health Unit declared an outbreak at Clara Brenton Public School in London.

According to the TVDSB website, two people at the school have been affected so far. Staff and families have been notified and only those identified as close contacts to the affected individuals will be asked to self-isolate for 14 days.

"Thames Valley is following all health and safety protocols recommended by both the local public health unit and the Ministry of Education, and schools remains safe places to attend," a statement from the TVDSB read.
