London police were able to nab an alleged car thief thanks to some fresh snow on the ground.
Early Tuesday morning, officers located a black Nissan Maxima with stolen license plates in a motel parking lot on 2031 Dundas Street.
Upon a brief investigation, police noticed tracks in the snow leading from the vehicle to a nearby room at the motel. Officers knocked on the door and a man inside produced a key fob belonging to the sedan in question.
Police confirmed the vehicle had also been reported stolen, and the suspect was arrested without incident. During a search, officers found two Ontario driver's licenses not belonging to the accused, and another stolen plate.
A 37-year-old London man was charged with three counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and two counts of possession of an identity document.
The man is scheduled to appear in court on May 10.
