A community fundraiser started by Finch Auto Group helped donate $1.15 million to local charities across London-Middlesex.
The "Finch Match My Donation" campaign started in September with a concept of matching personal donations made to local charities and non-profits up to $50,000 a month, over four months.
According to the auto group, the final number well surpassed Finch's initial goal of matching up to $200,000 in donations.
The auto group says they received nearly 2,000 individual donations totalling over $850,000, which inspired Finch Auto Group to donate an additional $100,000 on top of the previously matched $200,000.
"This campaign was an overwhelming success. The results are beyond our wildest hopes," said president Ryan Finch in a release.
Finch stated how the COVID-19 pandemic has been hard on everyone.
"We wanted to give back to our community in a unique way that differs from our regular community efforts."
The Humane Society of London, Anova, and Make-A-Wish Southwestern Ontario are just a few of the organizations that have received donations. Over 100 local charities were supported by the fundraiser. A full list can be found here.
"Thanks to everyone who contributed and supported our campaign," Finch added. Amazing things truly are happening in London."
