London boys score new road hockey gear after game with local police officers

A London mother says her heart is "so full" after a pair of London police officers not only joined her boys for a game of road hockey, but returned the next day to give them some new equipment.

The children were playing the game outside of their home on a dead-end street on Saturday when two police cruisers pulled up. Two officers, who were wearing face masks, got out and joined the boys in a friendly game.

A photo posted to social media shows the officers with sticks in hand taking a shot on net, where an excited young goalie waited to make the save.

"What an amazing bunch of officers. Joined the kids in some road hockey! Thank you for all that you do London Police Service," the boys' mother Tiffany Leroux posted to Facebook.

The next day, the officers returned to the home with a surprise for the young hockey enthusiasts - new hockey sticks and road hockey balls.

The gift prompted Leroux to post to social media a second time.

"About to head to work, I walked out the door and two cops were at the door with two new hockey sticks and road hockey balls for the boys. My heart is so full," wrote Leroux. "People don’t think much about what the kids are going through during the pandemic and little things like this is so amazing to brighten there spirits!"
