UPDATE: Suspects caught in armed Strathroy variety store robbery

Strathroy-Caradoc police have arrested two suspects wanted in connection with an armed robbery at a local variety store.

On Thursday, police confirmed that a 24-year-old man of no fixed address and a 28-year-old woman from Strathroy were arrested and charged in connection to the robbery.

A man and woman, one of whom was armed with a knife, walked into the Circle K at 7 Front St. just before 5 a.m. Wednesday and demanded money and cigarettes from the clerk. The pair took off from the store after getting a small amount of cash and smokes, police said.

During the incident, the store clerk suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

The 24-year-old man was charged with two counts of armed robbery, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and carrying a concealed weapon. The 28-year-old woman was charged with armed robbery, robbery and wounding another person, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Police are not seeking any other suspects in the case.

Both of the accused, who cannot be named until they appear in court, are being held in custody. They will appear via audio for a bail hearing on January 1.
