32 additional COVID-19 cases in London-area, one new death

London-Middlesex reported 32 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday.

The latest cases bring the regional case count to 2,045.

There was also one additional death in the region reported, bringing the total number who have died from the virus in London-Middlesex to 79. The latest death was a man in his 70s who was in a long-term care home.

Meanwhile, 48 new recoveries were reported on Saturday. So far, 1,667 individuals in the London-area have recovered from the virus.

The latest figures come one day after the Province of Ontario announced that the London region will move into the Red-Control level of the COVID-19 Response Framework as of Monday at 12:01 a.m.

Southwestern Public Health, the health unit covering St. Thomas, Woodstock and Elgin and Oxford counties, reported 12 new cases on Saturday with the case count now sitting at 721.

Elsewhere, provincial health officials reported 1,873 new cases on Saturday and 1,918 more resolved cases
