This is also the area's seventh straight day of double-digit increases. Over the weekend, a total of 38 new cases were confirmed -- 19 cases each day.

The Middlesex London Health Unit has not specified how many of the new cases reported on Monday are connected with an ongoing outbreak at the London Health Sciences Centre's (LHSC) University Hospital. Currently, 36 staff members have tested positive and 33 infected patients are at the LHSC.

Outbreaks remain on six units at University Hospital, one unit at the Parkwood Institute, and two residences at Western University.

The health unit said the region's 67th COVID-19 related death was a woman in her 80s. She was not linked to a long-term care or retirement home. Her death is the 10th in the city and county since the second wave of the pandemic began in September.
