COVID-19 cases confirmed at two additional schools in region

A positive case of COVID-19 has been identified at an elementary school in Woodstock and in London.

The Thames Valley District School Board reported a case on Saturday afternoon at Springbank Public School in Woodstock. A case was also reported by the London District Catholic School Board at St. Marguerite d’Youville Catholic Elementary School in London.

Both schools will remain open and school buses will continue to operate. The cases remain under investigation by their respective health units and any close contacts will be followed up with directly and provided with specific testing advice.

“If you are not contacted by the health unit, your child is not considered to be at risk. The health unit will only contact those staff and students who have been identified as a close contact, and will advise them to stay home from school and quarantine for a period of 14 days,” the Thames Valley board said in a news release.

The school board added that it is following all health and safety recommendations in place and that Springbank Public School remains a safe place to attend class.
