Stranger offers 12-year-old ride in Old East Village

Police are looking for a man alleged to have offered a 12-year-old girl walking in Old East Village a ride to school.

The girl was walking in the area of Quebec Street and Princess Avenue around 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday when a man in a vehicle stopped at the intersection began speaking to her. The man asked the 12-year-old if she wanted a ride to school, London police said. The girl did not respond and the man drove away without another word.

Once she got to school, the girl notified staff about the encounter and police were called.

The man is described as Caucasian, between 30-40 years old, with a medium to heavy build, short brown hair, and scruffy facial hair. He was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and a black face mask. The suspect vehicle is said to have been a black Honda Civic with a dent above the rear driver’s side wheel well.

Police would like to speak to the man involved in the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
