COVID-19 case confirmed at St. Thomas school

A case of COVID-19 has been identified at a school in St. Thomas.

The Thames Valley District School Board announced on Wednesday that a positive case of the virus has been confirmed at Forest Park Public School.

The school board said it has informed all staff, parents, and guardians within the Saunders school community of the COVID-19 case. Southwestern Public Health is also working to identify anyone who has come into close contact with the infected individual.

“If you are not contacted by the health unit, your child is not considered to be at risk. The health unit will only contact those staff and students who have been identified as a close contact, and will advise them to stay home from school and quarantine for a period of 14 days,” the Thames Valley board said in a news release.

The school will remain open and school buses will continue to operate.

There are currently four active COVID-19 cases in school communities within the Thames Valley district.  Click here for the full list of confirmed COVID-19 cases within the school board.
