A man and woman were using the small propane grill to prepare food inside of an SUV parked on York Street just before noon on Sunday when the vehicle's interior caught fire. The flames quickly spread throughout the SUV, which led to an explosion.

A 43-year-old man, of no fixed address, suffered burns to his chest, legs, and right arm. A 52-year-old woman, of no fixed address, had burns on her fingertips, forehead, and hairline.

The man and woman were taken to St. Thomas hospital for treatment, Aylmer police said.

The SUV was destroyed.
