Police break-up another party with too many people

A 20-year-old Toronto woman is facing charges under the Reopening Ontario Act after London police were called to another party where there were more people than allowed.

London police were called to a home on Ann Street near Talbot Street around 9:45 p.m. Saturday for a noise complaint. When they arrived, they saw that there were more than 10 people in the home and none appeared to be wearing masks. As officers spoke with the host of the gathering, some of the estimated 15 people in the home started to leave through the back.

The 20-year-old woman is charged with hosting an indoor gathering which exceeded 10 people and participating in an indoor gathering which exceeded 10 people.

“Despite repeated messages and reminders from police and our community partners, we continue to respond to large gatherings exceeding provincial guidelines,” said London Police Chief Steve Williams. “It’s not only disappointing to hear that this type of blatant disregard for public safety continues, but the individuals hosting and attending these gatherings are putting our first responders at risk with each and every interaction.”

Police were also called to a large gathering in the north end of the city. It is still being investigated.
