Tillsonburg man charged in gas station robbery

A 30-year-old man from Tillsonburg is facing several charges following an armed robbery at a gas station in Norfolk County.

The Ontario Provincial Police said on Thursday shortly before 11 a.m., a man entered the Esso gas station on McDowell Road East, pulled out an edged weapon, and demanded money from the clerk.

The man was able to get away to an awaiting vehicle, which was last seen heading west toward the Langton area.  Police have not released any information about what was stolen during the robbery.

The clerk was not injured during the incident.

Police were able to identify a suspect and Brandon Ernest Evans, 30, of Tillsonburg was arrested. He is charged with robbery with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, disguise with intent, and failing to comply with a probation order.

He was held in custody pending the outcome of a bail hearing on Friday in Simcoe.

An investigation is ongoing.
