One person killed in crash north of London

A two-vehicle crash north of London has left one person dead and another with minor injuries.

The vehicles collided head-on on Elginfield Road between Highbury Avenue and Stonehouse Line just before 6:15 a.m. Wednesday.

Middlesex OPP had been looking for one of the vehicles moments prior to the crash.

"We had a call come in with regards to a traffic complaint on one vehicle and that vehicle was involved in the collision," said Constable Kevin Howe, who did not elaborate on the details of the traffic complaint.

The drivers of both vehicles were taken to hospital where one later died from their injuries. No name has been released.

Elginfield between Highbury Avenue and Stonehouse Line was closed for much of the morning as police investigated the cause of the collision. It has since re-opened.

"[The crash] was on a straight path of the roadway. Our officers are on scene and in the preliminary stages of the investigation," said Howe.

Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to call police at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
