Another confirmed COVID-19 case in the TVDSB

Health officials are tracking another confirmed coronavirus case in the Thames Valley District School Board.

The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) reported Tuesday afternoon that a positive case was identified at Wilton Grove Public School in London. The person is not being identified, but the health unit reported that the case was connected to the before-and-after-school program.

"If you are not contacted by the health unit, your child is not considered to be at risk," according to a media release from the health unit. "The health unit will only contact those staff and students who have been identified as a close contact, and will advise them to stay home from school and quarantine for a period of 14 days."

This is the fourth positive case reported in the school district in less than a week. On Monday, a case was found at Northbrae Public School in London. Over the weekend, cases were identified at elementary schools in London and Tillsonburg.

The school board continues to reassure parents and students that every effort is being taken to keep the school community safe.

"Thames Valley is following all health and safety protocols recommended by both the local public health unit and the Ontario Ministry of Education, and Wilton Grove Public School remains a safe place to attend school," read the statement.

As in all schools where cases of COVID-19 have been reported, the school buildings remain open for classes, and buses will continue to run as scheduled.
