An elementary school in Thorndale and a high school in London are the latest in the Thames Valley District School Board to report cases of COVID-19.
The TVDSB announced Thursday that a case of the novel coronavirus has been confirmed at West Nissouri Public School, as well as at AB Lucas Secondary School. The board did not say if it is students or members of the staff who have contracted the virus.
The Middlesex London Health Unit is currently working to identify close contacts of both cases and is following up with those contacts.
“If you are not contacted by the health unit, your child is not considered to be at risk,” the board said in a statement issued Thursday. “The Health Unit will only contact those staff and students who have been identified as a close contact. Close contacts are also being advised to stay home from school and quarantine for a period of 14 days.”
The board said West Nissouri Public School and AB Lucas Secondary School will remain open and buses will continue to run.
The health unit has previously reported positive cases at H.B. Beal Secondary School, Saunders Secondary School, Mitchell Hepburn Public School, Sir Frederick Banting Secondary School, Lambeth Public School, Northdale Central Public Schools, Mary Wright Public School, and Sir Arthur Currie Public School. All of those cases are now considered resolved.
All confirmed active COVID-19 cases at Thames Valley schools are being tracked on the board’s website.
