Four additional COVID-19 cases in London-Middlesex, one new death

Another COVID-19 related death is being reported in the London-area.

The death, along with four new cases of the virus, was reported on Saturday afternoon by the Middlesex London Health Unit.

The latest person to pass away was a 51-year-old woman.

The total number of people who have died due to the virus in the region now sits at 60. Meanwhile, the total number of cases is now at 1085. Of those cases, 963 are listed as being recovered.

There are currently nine institutional outbreaks in the region and 10 confirmed cases in local school settings.

Southwestern Public Health, the health unit covering St. Thomas, Woodstock and Elgin and Oxford counties, reported three new COVID-19 case over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases to 305.

Elsewhere, provincial health officials reported 978 new cases on Saturday, marking the highest single-day increase in cases so far.

The provincial case count is now at 69,331. To date, 59,424 individuals have recovered from the virus in Ontario and 3,086 have passed away.
