Charges laid in south London armed robbery, crash

Three people have been charged in relation to an armed robbery that ended with a crash in south London earlier this month.

London police were called about the robbery in the area of Jalna Boulevard and Bradley Avenue around 2 p.m. on October 8. Officers were told the suspects had taken off in a pickup truck, which was quickly located.

The pickup crashed soon after in the area of White Oak Road and Westminster Drive. Three occupants of the vehicle were hurt and had to be taken to hospital.

Police had confirmed at the time that the pickup truck was the same one reported to have been involved in the robbery of an LCBO hours earlier in Strathroy.

Following an investigation, two men and a woman have been charged, police said Friday.

David William Snake, 31, is charged with nine offences including armed robbery, possession of a weapon, mischief under $5,000, dangerous operation of a vehicle, criminal negligence causing bodily harm, failure to stop for police, failure to stop after a crash, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and driving while prohibited.

Curtis Snake, 23, and Kanisha Hendrick, 18, are charged with armed robbery and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

The 23-year-old faces an additional charge of possession of a weapon.

All three are to appear in London court in relation to the charges on December 29.

The province's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has launched its own investigation into the incident. That investigation is ongoing. The civilian agency investigates incidents involving the police that have resulted in serious injury, death, or allegations of sexual assault.
