Police investigating after online date turns nightmarish for woman

London police are looking for a suspect after a woman was forcibly confined by a man she met through an online dating platform.

After meeting the man online, police said the woman met him in a downtown parking lot on Sunday and got into his vehicle.  The man asked the woman to go with him to another location but she refused and attempted to get out of the vehicle. However, the man physically prevented her from getting out and began driving.

The woman was able to get out of the vehicle in the south end of the city and ran. She called the police at around 6:50 a.m. Sunday morning, and was located by officers in the area of Longwoods Road. She was not physically injured, police said.

Officers searched the area but were unable to find the suspect who is described as 35-45 years of age, around 5’6” tall, with an average build, short black hair, and a light black beard.  He was last seen wearing a white and black long-sleeved sweater, blue jeans, a white and plaid baseball cap, and black sandals with a red "Under Armour" logo. Police have also released a photo of the suspect which can be seen above.

The suspect's vehicle is described as a black or dark blue Ford Fusion, with a white hood with rust spots on it. The vehicle had a yellow and white rear licence plate and no front plate.

Anyone with information regarding this incident or the individual in the photo is asked to call the London Police Service at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Information can also be sent in online anonymously to www.londoncrimestoppers.com.
