London man wins $500K

A London teacher says his life won't change much, despite winning $500,020 in the lottery.

Steven Forget, 48, split a $1,000,000 MaxMillions prize with the owner of another winning ticket in the October 9 Lotto Max draw. He also matched three numbers plus the bonus on another selection on his ticket to win $20, bringing his total winnings to $500,020.

Forget says he's been playing the same numbers since he was old enough to buy lottery tickets.

“When I stopped at the store to replay my tickets, I used the Ticket Checker and saw the prize amount,” he said. “I immediately thought about the opportunities this will provide for my kids and loved ones.”

Despite the six-figure boost to his bank account, Forget says he doesn't expect life to change a great deal.

“We’ll just have the means for more fun and enjoyment. This provides me the opportunity to spend more time with my kids and support them in their university education,” he said. “I live for my kids. This win is all about them. The material things aren’t important to me. I keep thinking about the wonderful memories we will create together. There may be some ATV’s and a boat in our future.”

According to Ontario Lottery and Gaming, Forget bought his winning ticket at a gas station in Kitchener.
