Second noose found, police do not suspect two incidents related

A second noose has been found in a wooded area of London, this time, in the Meadowlillly Woods.

Police were called to the area along the Thames River just after 11 a.m. Saturday after a man found the noose tied to the branch of a tree.

During their investigation, officers discovered an abandoned campsite nearby, hidden away from the trails in the area.

Police said the rope was ingrown into the tree bark, so they believe it has been there for some time. They believe it is unrelated to the discovery of a noose in Warbler Woods on September 4.

Nothing else significant to the investigation was found at the tree, the campsite, or in the surrounding area.

The London Police Service said it "stands firm in its commitment to end anti-black racism, and is aware of the impact such symbols may have on members of our diverse community."

It also reminds the public if they, or someone they know, is suffering from mental illness and requires assistance they should call the Mental Health Crisis Line, go to a local hospital, or call 911 in an emergency.

Anyone with information related to the incident in the Meadowlilly Woods is asked to call police at 519-661-5670, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Tips can also be submitted online to www.londoncrimestoppers.com.
