Herbicide application scheduled for roadway medians across London

London has made plans to spray herbicide along many roadway medians to help manage invasive weeds and other vegetation.

Weather permitting, city workers will begin spraying various median locations on Monday and expect to complete the project by September 5.

The city is using a liquid herbicide called: Roundup WeatherMAX with Transorb 2 Technology. The water-soluble weed killer contains an active ingredient called glyphosate, present as potassium salt under the Pest Control Products Act for Canada.

A full list of the medians and roadways being treated can be found on the City of London website.

Herbicides are regulated in Ontario under the Pesticides Act. London is completing the herbicide spraying under the Public Works Exemption of the Cosmetic Pesticides Ban for the promotion of public health and safety.

Following the application, residents and their pets should not enter the sprayed median locations for at least 48 hours after the area was treated, once the herbicide has fully dried.
