Heat warning in effect for parts of southwestern Ontario

The hot and humid weather will be returning for the next few days.

Early Sunday morning Environment Canada issued a heat warning for several regions across southwestern Ontario.

According to the weather agency, the extreme heat is expected to hit the area on Sunday and last throughout Monday. There is also a possibility that the heat event could last into Tuesday.

Daytime high temperatures are expected to range from 30 C to 33 C with overnight lows of 20 C to 23 C.

Humidex values in the high 30s to low 40s are in the forecast for Sunday and Monday.

Extreme heat can impact everyone however the risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.

Outdoor workers are reminded to take regularly scheduled breaks in a cool place and people or pets should never be left inside a parked vehicle.
