UPDATE: 22-year-old pedestrian killed in Ingersoll crash

A pedestrian is dead and an infant injured after being hit by a transport truck Friday afternoon.

Ontario Provincial Police say it happened around 1:30 p.m. at the intersection on Thames Street South and Charles Street in Ingersoll. According to police, the pedestrian was pushing a stroller across the street when they were struck by a transport truck.

OPP Constable Patti Cote said the victim identified as 22-year-old Ashten Elizabeth Fick of Ingersoll, was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead. An infant child was also treated in hospital for minor injuries. The driver of the truck was not hurt.

Ingersoll Fire Services and Oxford County EMS assisted the OPP on the scene, and the OPP West Region Technical Collision Investigation team was at the location all Friday afternoon.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash, who did not speak with investigators to call them at 1-888-310-1122.
