More charges laid in murder case

Two more people have been charged in connection with the murder of a man who allegedly committed war crimes in Liberia.

Bill Horace, 44, was killed on June 21 after four men went to a home at 232 Pochard Lane around 4:40 a.m. and forced their way inside. There was an altercation that ended when one of the men shot Horace. The men then took off and a 911 call was made. Emergency crews rushed Horace to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

On Friday, London police announced that 22-year-old Tianna Almeida and 22-year-old Tera Amoatemah, both of North York, are charged with being accessories after the fact to the offence of assault with a weapon.

"Both women were arrested in Toronto by London Police Service members on July 7, 2020 and released pending a court appearance in London on September 28, 2020," police said in a news release.

Police said Tuesday that Toronto police officer Trevor Gregory is charged with breach of trust in connection with the investigation into Horace's murder. Gregory is the father of Keiron Gregory, who is charged with second degree murder in Horace's death. A warrant was issued for his arrest on June 25, however, he remains at large.

London police previously confirmed that Horace is the same man who was a member of the National Patriotic Front of Liberia (NPFL), a rebel group that was active during the First Liberian Civil War between 1989 to 1996. Horace also acknowledged his ties to NPFL during an interview with Maclean’s magazine in 2009.

Horace and the men under his command were accused of “horrendous atrocities” during their time with NPFL. However, despite also being under investigation in Canada, none of the allegations against Horace have been proven in court.

Anyone with information in relation to Horace's murder is asked to call the London Police Service at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Information can also be sent in online anonymously to www.londoncrimestoppers.com.
