Two new COVID-19 cases reported in London-Middlesex

Just two new cases of COVID-19 were reported by the Middlesex London Health Unit on Friday.

The two new cases bring the total since the pandemic began to 629. Of those, 510 people have recovered.

Once again, no deaths related to the coronavirus were reported in London or Middlesex County. The death toll remains at 57.

The outbreak at Westmount Gardens was declared over on Friday, and so there are currently no outbreaks at long term care facilities or retirement homes in London and Middlesex County. In total, there have been 180 cases of COVID-19 in area long term care facilities and retirement homes in London and Middlesex County. Of those, 106 have been residents while 74 have been staff.

Provincially, health officials reported another 165 new cases of COVID-19 across Ontario on Friday. Two deaths were reported, which is the lowest number since March 31.

Health Minister Christine Elliott said every health unit in the province except for Toronto, York, and Peel Region reported fewer than five new cases Friday.
