Two charged after raid turns up guns, knives, drugs

Police in St. Thomas say two people face a list of charges after an investigation led to the seizure of narcotics, guns, and knives.

Officers searched an apartment on Talbot Street on Thursday and seized four guns, a replica gun, knives, scales, a bullet proof vest, $35,500 worth of narcotics, and $24,500 in cash. The drugs seized included 283.3 grams of methamphetamine, 0.6 grams of purple fentanyl, 14.3 grams of cocaine, 11.7 grams of crack cocaine, as well as several pills.

Police say the serial numbers were filed off three of the four guns that were seized.

A 31-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman face several charges including production of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, careless storage of a firearm, and tampering with the serial number of a firearm.

“This investigation is a direct result of the ongoing commitment by members of the St. Thomas Police Service to crack down on drugs, guns and violent crime in our community," St. Thomas police chief Chris Herridge said in a news release issued Friday. "We will not let up. I would like to thank the dedicated members of our organization for their relentless efforts to protect the citizens of St. Thomas.”
