Charges have been laid against 10 people after a raid of illegal pot shops southwest of London earlier this month that turned up marijuana and tobacco products worth $718,000.
Middlesex OPP announced the charges related to their June 4 search on Wednesday afternoon.
Three black market cannabis retailers on Carriage Road in Middlesex Centre were targeted in the raid. Officers with the provincial joint forces cannabis enforcement team seized $480,000 worth of pot products, $230,000 in tobacco products, $9,000 in electronics, and $27,000 cash. A shotgun and a bulletproof vest were also found, police said.
Seven Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation residents ranging in age from 18-48, a 28-year-old Chippewas of the Thames First Nation woman, a 38-year-old London man, and a 15-year-old have been charged with possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling.
An additional charge of assaulting a peace officer and resisting a peace officer has been laid against the 48-year-old Oneida resident. The 18-year-old Oneida resident is also charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm.
All of the accused have been released from police custody and are scheduled to appear in London court in relation to the charges at a later date.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
Retailers have to be licensed by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario in order to legally sell marijuana in the province.
