Police looking for suspect in spitting incident

London police are asking for the public's help as they search for a woman who allegedly spit in the face of a man during an argument.

Police said it happened around 7:40 p.m. on May 11. A man was in line to get takeout from a restaurant at 573 Richmond St. when a woman and a young child approached and struck up a conversation.

"The man asked the woman to please provide him with more space as she was standing very close to him during the conversation, which concerned him due to the current situation involving the COVID-19 pandemic," police said in a news release issued Thursday. "The two began arguing with each other, and the woman spat in the face of the man. A witness observed the entire interaction."

Police said the victim took pictures (shown above and below) of the woman as she left the scene and gave it to police.

The woman is described as being about 5'5", between 30 and 35 years of age, with a medium build and long black hair. She was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, and black boots.

Anyone with information in relation to this incident is asked to call the London Police Service at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Information can also be sent in online anonymously to www.londoncrimestoppers.com.
