Hospital security guard assaulted

Police in St. Thomas say a woman who didn't like the coronavirus-related rules at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital is charged after allegedly assaulting a security guard.

Officers were called Sunday after a woman became frustrated about the rules that are in place in the emergency room triage area. Police said she refused to listen to the requests of hospital staff.

"A security guard stepped in and advised the woman that if she did not abide by the rules police would be called," police said in a news release issued Monday. "The woman kicked the security guard then left the hospital and drove away."

Officers later identified and arrested a 67-year-old woman. She is charged with one count of assault.
