YMCA offering free virtual workouts

Families trying to stay fit during the COVID-19 pandemic now have a free way to stay on track.

The YMCA of Southwestern Ontario announced on Wednesday it is now offering virtual workouts and health tips. The online workouts can be found through a new website launched by the registered charity at VirtualYMCASWO.ca.

Created in collaboration with YMCAs across Canada, the site's virtual workout studio will offer classes for all ages and fitness levels with new workout regimes being added regularly.

"We know that COVID-19 is having a significant effect on individuals and families, and this is one important way YMCAs can help keep all Canadians healthy and active,” Andrew Lockie, president and CEO of YMCA of Southwestern Ontario, said in a statement.

Among other features included on the new website are recommendations on maintaining a healthy mind, body and spirit and regular updates from the organization.

All of the YMCA's locations across southwestern Ontario have been closed since March 15 due to the global outbreak of COVID-19.
