London's emergency services have given the city's healthcare workers a rolling salute.
A convoy of roughly a dozen London Police Service, London Fire Department, and Middlesex-London Paramedic Service vehicles used their sirens and lights to show workers at the city's four hospitals gratitude on Wednesday for the tireless work they have been doing amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
"The goal of the convoy was just to make a professional gesture to our colleagues, to remind everybody that, while some might be in the hospital providing care and some are outside in the community on the front lines, we're all in this together," said Miranda Bothwell of the Middlesex-London Paramedic Service.
Police vehicles, fire trucks, and ambulances circled University Hospital and St. Joseph's Hospital in the morning. Hospital workers gathered out front of the facilities to watch and cheered and applauded as emergency vehicles rolled by.
"This is extremely stressful times and there is so much anxiety and panic going around. [The convoy] was a moment to take a breathe, to look around and see everybody that is involved in this big community initiative," said Bothwell. "We are all trying to do our very best and provide the best care for everybody and get through this moment in time."
A similar emergency services convoy was to be held in the afternoon at Victoria Hospital and the Parkwood Institute.
