A gym in St. Thomas got a visit from bylaw officers after violating a provincial order for all non-essential businesses to close amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
A citizen tipped off municipal bylaw officers about the Wellington Road gym remaining open in defiance of the provincial state of emergency.
The gym's owner was contacted and the business was closed, police said.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford declared a state of emergency on March 17 ordering all non-essential businesses to shut down for two weeks to help stop the spread of COVID-19. The state of emergency was extended by another two weeks on March 30.
