Trucker seriously injured in rollover on 401
A trucker was airlifted to hospital after his big rig flipped into the ditch along Highway 401 in the London-area on Wednesday night.
The tractor trailer was heading westbound, just west of Colonel Talbot Road when it left the roadway and rolled onto its roof around 6:30 p.m. The driver had to be cut from the wreckage and was taken by Air Ornge to hospital with serious injuries.
The driver’s condition has since improved.
A section of the highway was closed for roughly four hours to allow for clean up of the transport’s lost load and spilt fuel. The Ministry of Environment was notified about the fuel leak.
The OPP have said the weather was not a factor in the collision and the investigation is ongoing.
