London police headquarters to close to the public

As part of the nationwide effort to fight the spread of COVID-19, London police are closing their detachment headquarters to members of the public.

"The London Police Service continues to consult with public health officials in making decisions that balance the need to provide community safety while maintaining the health and safety of our members," the London Police Service said. "These measures are aimed at protecting members of the public and our staff to minimize the possibility of human-to-human transmission of the virus."

While police headquarters will be closed, all police services will remain in place and the public will still be able to call 911 in the event of an emergency. Anyone who needs to contact London police regarding a non-emergency matter is asked to call 519-661-5670 or complete a report online.

In an effort to protect officers from the virus, anyone who calls asking for police to attend their location will be asked screening questions related to COVID-19 health risks.

"This is for the protection and peace of mind of our members who may be dispatched to see you," London police said.

Record check applications and Freedom of Information requests will only be accepted online, and will be limited to those that are absolutely critical to ensuring emergency services are maintained.
